The cost of machine
vision have tremendously reduced due to technology advancement. New image
sensor technology allow camera makers to engineer lower cost camera with good
quality images. Breakthrough in LED manufacturing and optical solution increases
the light intensity and consistency in illuminating the inspection part.
A typical GigE interface
camera using Sony ICX445 sensor can deliver up to 30 frame per second at 1.3
Mpx. The cost of such camera is approx. 600USD. Assuming a working distance of
150mm, this setup can support application ranging from Field of view (FOV) 180
X 130mm with ~0.15mm/pixel resolution to 24 x 18 mm with ~0.02mm/pixel
resolution.
With a high resolution lens,
integrated with low cost lighting with strobe controller the optics and
lighting cost will round up to not more than 300USD + 800USD.
Below tabulate the cost
of a typical mid-range vision system.
